BGCA's Health & Wellness programs and tools support the physical, mental and emotional health of Club members, staff and families. Programs promote healthy lifestyles, making healthy choices, and help kids and teens develop strategies to manage strong emotions.
The Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club offers a variety of programs focused on health, wellness, and life skills, designed to equip youth with the knowledge and habits they need to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. These programs cover essential topics like nutrition, emotional well-being, personal hygiene, and decision-making skills, helping young people make informed choices about their physical and mental health. By promoting healthy lifestyles and teaching practical life skills, the club empowers youth to take control of their well-being, build self-confidence, and navigate life’s challenges with resilience.

Triple Play: A Game Plan for Mind, Body and Soul” is our comprehensive health and wellness initiative for positive youth development in the areas of physical and mental health and wellness
Mind Activities: developing the knowledge for acquiring healthy habits such as smart food choices, understanding portion sizes, and creating balanced and enticing meals.
Body Activities: promoting physical activity through fun daily fitness, sports and other recreation that gets kids active and fit.
Soul Activities: strengthening interpersonal skills,positive behavior and good character through social recreation and service programs for the community.
Small group mentoring to youth identified by school officials, staff, coaches, or parents as being at-risk due to a lack of asset development in academics, behavior, or study skills.
Anti-bullying: Afterschool programs can help prevent bullying and fighting by creating a safe environment, connecting youth with their peers, giving them opportunities to talk about what they are feeling, modeling respectful behavior and teaching positive relationship skills
- SMART Moves: SMART Moves is a suite of health promotion programs, focused on building the key attitudes and skills necessary for youth to make decisions about their health. Some of the biggest gaps in content are related to risk behaviors such as substance use, tobacco use and sexual health. The program provides content aligned with the most important social-emotional skills necessary for healthy decision-making. This is reflected in the name of the program: SMART is an acronym for Skills Mastery and Resilience Training.
